NATS Student Ambassadors

London

North American Trade School’s London Campus has a group of student volunteers called the Student Ambassadors. Students from each program and each start date (on the day and evening shift) meet once a month to plan and organize ways to improve the student experience and create some fun and interest for staff and students. Some activities over the years include: paintball days, hockey, family day, Movember, BBQs, Pancake Day, Chili, 50-50 sales, casual days, raffles, food drives etc. Student Ambassadors come up with the ideas and donate their time to promoting, organizing, selling and clean up of these special events. Many of the events raise money that builds over the school year. It is a great opportunity for students to become leaders, network and get involved in the school – all great additions to their resumes.

It’s become a tradition that at the end of the year, at Christmas time – just before the school shuts down for 2 weeks – the Ambassadors take some of the Ambassador Fund and purchase toys for those in need over the holidays. Some of the money will also went towards prizes that the students won as a kickoff for their holidays (gift cards, tools, etc). Some of the school’s suppliers were kind enough to donate prizes to the students as well – a big thank you to: Guillevin Industrial, The Color Company (Para Paints), Checkers Cleaning Supply and Home Hardware.

This year the fund hit just under $1,100.

The Ambassadors decided to spend $500 on toys. Half was dropped off at FM 96’s drive through toy drive for the Salvation Army toy drive – for Christmas Hampers. The other half was be taken to The London Children’s Health Foundation toy drive.

North American Trade Schools would like to acknowledge the efforts of their Students Ambassadors and congratulate their hard work in 2014! Happy Holidays to everyone and a safe New Years as well!
